On October 22nd, 2025
in the quiet hum of celebration,
beneath the banners of the seventy-first Dies Natalis,
a name rises with the calm brilliance of thought —
Prof. Dr. Refnaldi, M.Litt.,
a scholar whose light does not burn,
but enlightens.

From the halls of the Faculty of Languages and Arts,
and through the corridors of the Universitas Negeri Padang,
he has walked with a steady flame —
guiding minds,
cultivating reflection,
weaving the threefold path of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education
into a living symphony of purpose:
teaching that liberates thought,
research that deepens truth,
and service that returns knowledge
to the pulse of humanity.

In his hands, writing becomes more than skill —
it becomes a mirror of the soul.
He teaches that an essay is not merely a structure,
but a searchlight of conscience.
Each paragraph, a gesture toward honesty;
each sentence, a step toward wisdom.

His classroom breathes with awareness,
where thought and empathy intertwine,
and where students learn
that to write well is to see clearly,
to think deeply,
to live kindly.

Research, for him, is a form of meditation —
a quiet pursuit that pierces data
to find the pulse of meaning beneath.
And service,
a devotion to transform intellect
into compassion made visible.

This moment belongs not to him alone,
but to all who have walked beside him —

to his family, whose patience and faith
formed the unseen roots of every success;

to his colleagues,
keepers of the same flame of inquiry,
whose friendship has steadied every season of work;

to his students and alumni,
whose restless curiosity
has been both challenge and inspiration,
reminding him — always —
that education is the art of becoming.

In a world swollen with noise,
he reminds us that knowledge must remain gentle.
That the truest intellect listens before it speaks,
and the finest scholar writes not to conquer,
but to connect.

He stands as the quiet echo
of the classical intellectual —
one who learns to understand,
writes to enlighten,
and serves to elevate life itself.

Through his work,
we are reminded that truth has rhythm,
that learning has heart,
and that teaching is an act of love.

This professorship is not a culmination,
but a continuation —
a vow renewed in wisdom’s light.
May this honor flow like a spring,
nourishing thought,
inspiring courage,
and blessing generations to come.

May it awaken within us
the courage to think with clarity,
to write with sincerity,
and to serve with compassion.

“Knowledge born of sincerity becomes light —
a light that guides the world toward wisdom.”
