Suaraanaknegerinews.com – Ramadan fasting is one of the pillars of Islam that has a very important position. In addition to being a form of obedience to Allah, Ramadan fasting has many virtues explained in the Qur’an and the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Here are some of the virtues of Ramadan fasting, complete with the postulates and the hadith number:

Ramadan Fasting Erases Past Sins

One of the main virtues of Ramadan fasting is that this worship can eliminate past sins, as long as it is done with faith and sincerely hoping for rewards from Allah SWT.

The reason. From Abu Hurairah RA, the Prophet Muhammad SAW said: “Whoever fasts Ramadan with full faith and hopes for rewards, then his past sins will be forgiven.” (HR. Bukhari and HR. Muslim).

This hadith was conveyed by the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in the context of encouraging Muslims to carry out Ramadan fasting with sincere intentions, full of faith, and hope for rewards from Allah.

The event of the delivery of this hadith is related to the encouragement of goodness in the month of Ramadan, which is one of the important worships in Islam.

This hadith explains that fasting that is done with faith and sincerity, in the hope of getting a reward from Allah, will be the cause of the forgiveness of past sins. This is an important spiritual moment for Muslims in cleansing themselves from past sins.

Fasting as a Shield from Hellfire

Fasting is also likened to a shield or protector from the fires of hell. Fasting helps a person guard themselves from the lusts and temptations of Satan, thus protecting them from punishment in the hereafter.

The reason. From Abu Hurairah RA, the Prophet Muhammad SAW said: “Fasting is a shield, so if one of you is fasting, do not say dirty things and do not act stupidly. If anyone reproaches him or fights him, let him say, ‘Indeed, I am fasting.'” (Narrated by Abu Hurairah and listed in Saheeh al-Bukhari and Saheeh Muslim).

This hadith was conveyed by the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم as advice on the importance of maintaining behavior and speech while fasting. Fasting is likened to a shield that protects a person from sins, so that not only refrains from eating and drinking, but also from bad behavior such as saying dirty, getting angry, or doing stupid actions.

The event of delivering this hadith is part of the guidance of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in motivating Muslims to maintain the purity of fasting and manners during the month of Ramadan.

This hadith reminds Muslims that fasting is not just refraining from eating and drinking, but also from bad words and deeds. Fasting is a protector of a person from sinful deeds and also from the torment of hellfire.

The Gates of Heaven Are Opened, The Gates of Hell Are Closed, Satan Is Bound

In the month of Ramadan, Allah SWT provides various facilities for Muslims to achieve His forgiveness and mercy. One of these conveniences is the opening of the gates of heaven, the closing of the gates of hell, and the shackles of demons.

The reason. From Abu Hurairah RA, the Prophet Muhammad SAW said: “When the beginning of the night comes from the month of Ramadan, the demons and the very evil jinn are shackled, the gates of hell are closed and not a single door is opened, while the doors of heaven are opened not a single door is closed. And a caller exclaimed: ‘Come here, O you who want goodness. O you who desire ugliness, bear up.’ (This hadith was narrated by Imam At-Tirmidhi, Imam Ibn Majah, and Imam Ahmad, from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him.)

This hadith illustrates how special the month of Ramadan is, where Allah provides a great opportunity for Muslims to draw closer to Him without being disturbed by the temptations of Satan. It also shows that the month of Ramadan is the right time to multiply righteous deeds.

Fasting is Worship That Is Directly Rewarded by Allah

Fasting has its own special because Allah declares that fasting is for Him, and He Himself will repay it. This shows how great the value of fasting is in the sight of Allah SWT.

The reason: From Abu Hurairah RA, the Prophet Muhammad SAW conveyed the hadith qudsi from Allah SWT: Translation: “Every good deed of the son of Adam will be multiplied in reward, one good deed becomes ten to seven hundred times. Allah said: ‘Except fasting, for fasting is for Me and I will repay it. He forsakes his orgasm and his food for the sake of Me.'” (HR. Bukhari and HR. Muslim).

This hadith was conveyed by the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to explain the virtue of fasting in the sight of Allah. While other good deeds have a predetermined and multiplied reward, fasting has a special privilege because it is directly Allah who repays it. This shows how great fasting is as a worship that is carried out with full sacrifice, abandoning orgasm and food solely for Allah’s sake. This hadith is conveyed in the context of the encouragement to carry out fasting with sincerity and patience, because Allah Himself promises a reward.

Prayer of the Fasting Mustajab

One of the other virtues of fasting is that the prayer of the fasting person is very mustajab, especially when breaking the fast. This is a golden opportunity for Muslims to pray and ask Allah SWT for whatever they want.

The reason: From Abdullah bin Amr bin Ash RA, the Prophet Muhammad SAW said: “Indeed, for those who fast, at the time of breaking the fast there is a prayer that will not be refused.” (HR. Ibn Majah and HR. Musnad Ahmad).

This hadith was conveyed by the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in the context of giving good news to those who fast, that the time of breaking the fast is a special time where their prayers are very mustajab (will not be refused).

The event of the delivery of this hadith is related to the priority of breaking the fast, where a Muslim is encouraged to pray because it is one of the best times to ask Allah.)

This hadith shows that the time of breaking the fast is a time full of blessings, where the prayers offered by the fasting person are very likely to be answered by Allah SWT.

Fasting as a Path to Heaven

Fasting is one of the worships that will take a person to heaven. The Prophet SAW explained that there is a special door in heaven that can only be entered by people who are fasting, namely the Ar-Rayyan door.

The reason. From Sahl bin Sa’ad RA, the Prophet Muhammad SAW said: “Indeed, in Paradise there is a door called Ar-Rayyan. Those who fast will enter through that door on the Day of Resurrection. No one entered through that door other than them. Once they enter, the door will be closed, and no one will be able to enter it anymore.” (Narrated by Abu Hurairah and listed in Saheeh al-Bukhari and Saheeh Muslim).

This hadith was conveyed by the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in the context of explaining the virtues of fasting in the hereafter. The Ar-Rayyan Gate is a special gate in heaven that is reserved only for people who are fasting.

This signifies a great appreciation from Allah for those who carry out fasting sincerely. This hadith delivery event is part of the motivation given by the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to emphasize a special reply for those who are serious in fasting, especially in the month of Ramadan.)

This hadith shows that fasting has a very great virtue, where Allah provides a special door in heaven for those who are diligent in fasting.

Conclusion

Ramadan fasting has many infinite virtues, both in this life and the hereafter. Allah gives a great reward to those who fast sincerely.

In addition, fasting is also a moment to strengthen the relationship with Allah, improve morals, and get forgiveness for past sins.

Therefore, Muslims around the world are strongly encouraged to make the best use of the month of Ramadan through fasting and other pious deeds.(Arsiya Oganara)
