Biodiversity: Prof. Rudi Maturbongs Emphasizes Sustainable Development Capital at UNCRI

Manokwari, September 4, 2025 — Universitas Caritas Indonesia (UNCRI) once again hosted an inspiring public lecture with Prof. Dr. Ir. Rudi Maturbongs, M.Si., presenting a talk entitled “Biodiversity as a Capital for Sustainable Development.”

In this lecture, Prof. Rudi explained that Indonesia’s biodiversity is not only a natural heritage, but also a strategic asset for sustainable development. He emphasized the importance of maintaining ecosystem balance while responsibly utilizing biological potential.

In addition to biodiversity, waste management was also highlighted as an important topic of discussion. Integrated, community-based waste processing is considered a concrete step toward environmentally friendly development.

This lecture enriched UNCRI students’ understanding of the relationship between environmental conservation and national development strategies, while also encouraging collective awareness to actively contribute to protecting the Earth.
