Manokwari, 18 November 2025 — The Caritas University of Indonesia (UNCRI) in Manokwari has achieved a major milestone in its pursuit of academic excellence in Papua. The university’s Law Study Program has officially secured a “Very Good” accreditation rating, as confirmed by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) through Decree No. 8328/SK/BAN-PT/Ak/S/XI/2025, published on the SAPTO BAN-PT platform.
This achievement underscores UNCRI’s swift ascent as a developing, accessible, and quality-driven higher education institution. Established on 16 April 2024 through the merger of STIE Mah Eisa Manokwari and STIH Caritas Papua, UNCRI has since undergone a strategic institutional transformation. The merger led to the formation of three faculties—Economics and Business, Law, and Science and Technology—along with the development of new academic programs in Marine Science, Environmental Science, and Forestry Engineering, all formalized under Ministry Decree No. 299/E/O/2024.
Rector Prof. Dr. Roberth Kurniawan Ruslak Hammar, S.H., M.Hum., M.M., CLA, emphasized that academic consolidation, governance strengthening, and a culture of quality have been UNCRI’s main priorities. He considers the institutional merger a pivotal opportunity to build a modern, resilient academic ecosystem aligned with national standards outlined in Ministerial Regulations No. 53/2023 and No. 39/2024.
The Law Program initiated its reaccreditation process in December 2024. After completing rigorous administrative preparations and documentation for the field assessment, BAN-PT conducted an on-site evaluation from 13 to 15 November 2025. The assessment covered key areas including governance, curriculum development, faculty qualifications, research output, community engagement, learning facilities, and graduate user satisfaction.
The program is currently supported by a strong academic lineup consisting of two Professors, eight Ph.D. holders, and five Master’s-level lecturers. This academic structure reflects UNCRI’s readiness to provide competitive and contextually relevant legal education for West Papuan communities. The “Very Good” rating demonstrates that the institutional consolidation undertaken since 2024 has produced tangible outcomes recognized at the national level.
This accomplishment also serves as a motivational boost for UNCRI’s Institutional Accreditation Team, which is preparing to host BAN-PT assessors from 24 to 26 November 2025. Led by Yohanes D. Resi, S.E., S.H., M.M., M.H., under the supervision of Vice Rector II Budiman, S.Kom., S.H., M.M., the team aims to present UNCRI’s structural readiness, academic coherence, and rapid institutional development. A strong institutional accreditation result is expected to further elevate UNCRI’s position as a key university in eastern Indonesia, particularly in human resource development, research impact, and regional advancement.
Since its founding, UNCRI has remained committed to delivering higher education that is affordable, high-quality, and relevant to the social and cultural context of West Papua while staying aligned with national standards. The “Very Good” accreditation achieved by the Law Program affirms UNCRI’s dedication to academic integrity, equitable access to education, and meaningful learning outcomes.
This achievement strengthens UNCRI’s role in shaping competent legal professionals, deepening customary law studies, supporting regional public policy development, and fostering equitable socio-economic growth across eastern Indonesia.
Staying true to its mission of serving society, UNCRI continues to uphold its guiding motto:
“Knowledge for Prosperity and Love”
(Scientiorum ad Prosperium et Caritatum est)
