Manokwari, October 31, 2025 — The University of Caritas Indonesia (UNCRI) closed the month of October 2025 with a series of outstanding achievements in various academic, sports, and vocal arts competitions at both regional and intercollegiate levels. Throughout the month, UNCRI students proudly showcased their excellence, bringing honor to their alma mater.
In celebration of the 11th Anniversary of STIMIK Manokwari, the UNCRI debate teams secured 1st and 3rd Place in the Scientific Debate Competition, reaffirming the intellectual and rhetorical caliber of UNCRI students in scientific argumentation. Meanwhile, at the UNIPA Rector Cup 2025, the UNCRI men’s basketball team demonstrated dominance by claiming 1st Place after a thrilling final match.
Still within the UNIPA 2025 Lustrum Celebration, UNCRI students once again showcased their academic and linguistic competence by winning 2nd Place in the Scientific Debate Competition and reaching the Semifinal round in the English Debate, proving UNCRI’s competitiveness among top universities.
The university’s streak of success reached its peak in the vocal and music arts arena. Through three different competitions under the UNIPA Lustrum 2025, UNCRI students achieved remarkable victories: Caritas Choral UNCRI won 1st Place (Champion) in The First UNIPA Choir Competition 2025, Yulsa C. Nahuway, a 3rd-semester Law student, claimed 1st Place in the UNIPA Idol Competition 2025, and the UNCRI Acoustic String Band Team earned 3rd Place in the Acoustic String Band Contest.
All three performances captivated audiences, embodying the spirit of harmony, love, and creativity hallmarks of UNCRI students.
Caritas Choral UNCRI performed two songs: “Untuk Apa Lagi” and the Papuan traditional song “Insos Yedi.” Despite having limited preparation time, the team successfully achieved its target as Champion thanks to the dedication of their vocal coaches and music consultants, who provided intensive training refining interpretation, honing vocal precision, and teaching the art of “conquering the song” on stage.
Meanwhile, the UNCRI Acoustic String Band composed of freshman students also delivered an outstanding performance despite the challenges of performing high-pitched traditional songs. Their energetic and improvised performance demonstrated the great potential of UNCRI’s new generation of musicians. Before securing 3rd Place at the UNIPA Lustrum event, the team had already won 3rd Place in the 2025 Youth Pledge Day Acoustic Competition organized by Barisan Merah Putih DPD Papua Barat, showing their consistency and rapid growth in campus music culture.
The Rector of the University of Caritas Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Roberth Kurniawan Ruslak Hammar, S.H., M.Hum., M.M., CLA, expressed his highest appreciation for all student achievements throughout October 2025.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations and deepest appreciation to all UNCRI students who have achieved excellence in various fields. This proves that character, teamwork, and a competitive spirit continue to grow at UNCRI,” said the Rector.
He further emphasized that, particularly in the three vocal and music competitions — choir, idol, and string band the students displayed extraordinary talent and great potential to perform at national-level events.
“Although Caritas Choral had a short preparation time, the passion, discipline, and support from coaches and consultants produced exceptional results. Great singers are those who can bring a song to life and conquer it on stage. Next year, there are major upcoming events such as the National University Choir Competition (LPSMN), National Intercollegiate Church Choir Festival (Pesparama), and National Student Art Week (Peksiminas). These will be valuable opportunities to improve rankings and bring pride to our region both the district and the province,” he explained.
The Rector also encouraged the entire UNCRI academic community to maintain this spirit of achievement, making the university a center for nurturing students who are character-driven, competent, and highly competitive.
