You
Yusuf Achmad
At that time I remembered a frog,
You said, ah that’s an old animal,
I mentioned a dog,
You said that’s a wild animal,
I pointed at a wolf,
You said it was cruel and vicious.
You, at that time I remembered a frog,
I mentioned a dog,
I pointed at a wolf,
I let them be,
The frog jumped,
The dog barked,
The wolf howled.
You, do you want to know what I said back then?
Yes, I saw the frog,
And I’m not a frog,
Then I didn’t care anymore,
I continued with the dog,
Because I didn’t want to just gossip,
I hated cruelty and viciousness,
I chose the wolf whimpering.
You, I didn’t know what you said,
I remembered someone insulted,
My deeds, my work, my logic,
My thoughts and my beliefs.
Like night waiting for the morning,
Like a shadow seeking light,
My life is a series of questions,
Why, who, and how.
You are in every memory I have,
Like a frog jumping into my heart,
Like a dog barking in my ear,
Like a wolf screaming in my soul.
You, behind all these metaphors,
There is an unspoken meaning,
A feeling that transcends words,
And a love that is immeasurable by time.
You, your presence is a reflection of myself,
A reflection of every question and answer,
In every leap, bark, and howl,
There is a deep, unspoken message.
